Harrods Christmas Windows 2014

This year Harrods Department Store in London have created a series of displays inspired ‘The Land of Make Believe’.  The luxurious displays have been dressed in an array famous designers including Stella McCartney, Matthew Williamson and Alexander McQueen to name a few. Each display is punctuated with little uniformed mice in Harrods colours linking the displays to their Christmas film ‘A Little Christmas Tail’.

The idea of a story, a little character (or series of characters) and a short film invites the inevitable comparison between John Lewis and their now famous Christmas campaign.  While John Lewis introduced us to Monty the penguin and an array of in store merchandise,  Harrods have countered with a more sublte personality with the focus still very much on their high end designer offering. The film is a simple stop motion ‘tail’ about little Peter Pumpernickel helping Father Christmas fix the failing Christmas lights. The whole approach feels much more home-made and personal.

The story continues in store with a collection of limited edition luxury gifts inspired by the ‘Land of Make Believe’ theme.
